The three licensed sportsbooks in Delaware reported a sports betting handle of over $ 8.1 million for November.

The figure dropped significantly by 19.8% compared to November last year’s record of $10.1 million. It was also a decrease of 23.5% compared to October 2023.

With November’s handle, the year-to-date total in 2023 now stands at $56.48 million, a drop of 23.98% compared to the total amount of wagers in the first 11 months of 2022.

The operators generated a revenue of over $1.1 million during the month. Factoring in adjustments like bonuses and promotions, the figure decreased to $576,800, marking a 7.01% win rate for the state's retail sportsbooks. The total revenue so far for this year is now $7.9 million, a 28.18% decline when compared to the $11 million reported during the same period last year.

The state collected $452,162 in taxes for November, which brings the year-to-date total to $5.8 million. Delaware has now received over $62.6 million in tax revenue since it launched its retail sports betting market in June 2018.

Delaware’s Dormant Online Sports Betting Market

Although online sports betting is legal in Delaware, no online sports betting site currently operates on the site. The reason for the lack of interest in Delaware’s market has been attributed to the state’s plan to run the industry as a monopoly with a single operator.

While Delaware believes that having a single betting platform in its jurisdiction would be beneficial in terms of revenue and increased protection for players, many operators do not share this view and have not bid for the sole license.

RSI Replaces 888 as Delaware’s iGaming Partner

In August, Delaware Lottery announced Rush Street Interactive as its new online gaming partner. Under the five-year agreement, Rush Street will provide online gaming offerings in the state and expand its digital gaming landscape. Before RSI entered the scene, 888 had held the position for 10 years since the state launched its iGaming market in 2012.
