Lithuanian and Ukrainian Gambling Authorities Sign MoU

The Lithuanian and the Ukrainian gambling authorities have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) committing to work together to improve their regulation of gambling and lotteries.

The terms of the agreement will see the Lithuanian Gambling Supervisory Authority and the Ukrainian Commission on the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries exchange information about best practices and work together on ways to improve gambling while simultaneously increasing their industry knowledge.

Experts from each of the authorities will be collaborating on the exchange of legal information, regulatory practices, and issues relevant to the gambling industry, operator requirements, and the enforcement of laws. They will also be holding joint seminars and lectures, giving staff from each organization the chance to exchange ideas.

We are ready to share with our Ukrainian colleagues our experience in areas where we already have considerable expertise and practice, such as in the field of problem gambling prevention, application of measures against entities providing illegal remote gambling services, and technical requirements for gambling devices. We are very happy with this agreement and the fact that our new partners are colleagues of this persistent, unyielding, and proud state institution. We hope that this cooperation will be mutually beneficial, and we will, as much as we can, help our Ukrainian colleagues in their needs according to our competence.

The signing of the MoU comes in the same week that the Ukrainian Commission on the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries reminded the country’s gambling venues that they have to comply with the wartime curfew measures. Some Ukrainian gambling venues have begun to reopen amidst the ongoing invasion. While there is no ban on this, venues must comply with any relevant wartime restrictions.
