Maryland Betting Market Welcomes Betfred and DraftKings
Betfred and Draftkings have announced the launch of their sports betting services in Maryland.
While Betfred's retail sportsbook launched on Friday ( November 18), DraftKings is set to unveil its sportsbook app in the state on November 23.
The operators received the go-ahead to launch in the market after paying the $500,000 application fee and completing the mandatory early access test period, a requirement put in place by the Maryland State Lottery & Gaming Control Agency.
On September 7, Maryland began its mobile sports wagering licensing process. It has since concluded it on October 21 and is set to open its sports betting market soon. Several online betting operators have received approval and are preparing to launch in the market before the high-profile NFL games on Thanksgiving.
Draftkings's mobile betting app will allow players in the Old Line State to wager on a variety of betting options, including same-game parlays, special odds, boost selections, and player props.

Betfred's sportsbooks – called Betfred's Sportsbook at Long Shot's – is currently situated at a temporary location while the permanent establishment is under construction.
The permanent location will feature a video wall, theatre-style and lounge seating, and a food and beverage menu.
Having received online betting licenses, Betfred and Long Shot will also launch an online betting site in early 2023.
