Mega Millions Jackpot Nears $400m Ahead of Tuesday Draw
The Mega Millions Jackpot has reportedly increased to $396 million with a cash option of $273.6 million after the Friday night drawing did not yield a winner.
The jackpot was $376 million in the last drawing, with a cash value of $259.8 million. However, no lucky ticket holder drew the winning numbers-38, 45, 46, 55, and 67, and an 18 Megaball and 2x Megaplier to clinch the massive lottery prize.
Although no one won the main jackpot, a ticket sold in Georgia won $1 million in the Match 5 category after it landed all the five white balls drawn. If the player had matched the five numbers with a Megaplier, they would have won $2 million.
However, the Friday drawing also saw several other players winning smaller prizes. Twenty-three ticket holders won $10,000 after hitting the Match 4 plus the gold Mega Ball. Six players hit the Match 4 plus gold Mega Ball with a 2X Megaplier purchase winning $20,000 each. Other Mega Millions of prizes from the night ranged between $2 and $1,000.
The next Mega Millions drawing will occur tomorrow, Tuesday, January 25. The lottery is available in 45 states of the U.S., including the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia.
The Mega Millions lottery game costs $2 per ticket and is drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 pm every week.
The last Mega Millions jackpot win happened on October 22, 2021, when a Lake Havasu City family won $108 million. However, the family chose to collect their winnings via cash option and ended up getting $75.2 million before taxes.
