Michigan Entry Secured for 888 after Hannahville Partnership

It has been revealed that the Michigan Gaming Control Board has given approval for 888 Holdings VHL Michigan LLC to become the new online platform provider for the Hannahville Indian Community internet casino.

The company will utilize the Sports Illustrated brand, which 888 are in partnership with. HIC, meanwhile, operates the Island Resort and Casino in Harris, Michigan.

Following Twin Spires’ announcement to withdraw from the business last year, 888 subsequently emerged as a frontrunner for the deal, with the Gibraltar-based company successful in seeing their bid accepted.

888 Expanding Its Presence in the US

This is a considerably good deal for 888, with it being given a chance to further enhance its reputation in a major state that has witnessed substantial traction over the last couple of years in the iGaming industry.

With the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with some of the biggest global operators, such as FanDuel and DraftKings, 888 can be sure that it has as good a chance as any.

Its flourishing partnership with major US brand Sports Illustrated has helped substantially in its bid to consolidate a place in the US marketplace, with this proving to be significantly successful in the state of Colorado.

Following the latest announcement, there was nothing but praise from the officials for the Hannaville tribe as it looks to increase its presence in the state.

I wish the Hannahville tribe continued success as they once again may offer their customers both internet gaming and internet sports betting in Michigan.

Could 888 Have an Impact in Michigan?

The state has proven to be a good hunting ground for operators over the last two years, with customers seemingly receptive to new brands, especially those that offer something different in terms of promotions.

If 888, via Sports Illustrated, can be creative enough with its marketing efforts, there is no reason why it cannot at least take some share of what has proven to be a highly lucrative market in recent years.

While online sports betting is popular in the state, online casino has also shown particular traction, with customers clearly keen to participate in both. The brand has the advantage of being highly reputable in each niche, following nearly two decades worth of history. It will certainly be interesting to see how Michigan reacts.
