BOONVILLE, Mo.: The FBI is searching for a man wanted in connection with a March casino vault robbery in central Missouri.

Authorities say Hollis C. Vanleer Jr. is wanted over the March 25 robbery at Isle of Capri Casino Hotel in Boonville, where two armed men allegedly entered the property, reached the casino vault and stole a large amount of cash.

The search adds a new public-alert element to the Boonville casino robbery case, after authorities previously charged one suspect while a second man remained sought.

FBI Says Suspect Has Illinois Ties

Vanleer is believed to have ties to Chicago and Normal, Illinois, according to federal authorities. A warrant has been issued for his arrest in Cooper County, Missouri.

The FBI said Vanleer and another man entered the casino armed with guns and wearing masks, sunglasses and black clothing. The pair allegedly walked to the vault area at the rear of the casino, jumped the cage desk and entered a restricted area before taking cash from a drawer and placing it in a duffel bag.

Vanleer faces charges of first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and first-degree assault. Authorities said he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Reward Offered for Information

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that helps lead to Vanleer’s arrest. In an FBI wanted notice, authorities described him as approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall, with black hair, brown eyes and a tattoo on his left hand.

The agency said the second person allegedly involved in the robbery has already been charged. Vanleer remains wanted as investigators continue seeking information from the public.

Anyone with information on Vanleer’s whereabouts is asked to contact the FBI’s Kansas City Field Office at 816-512-8200 or the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 573-751-1000. Tips can also be submitted through the FBI’s online tip portal.

Casino Robbery Investigation Continues

The Isle of Capri Casino Hotel is located in Boonville, about 25 miles west of Columbia. The March robbery prompted a wider law enforcement response because of the use of firearms and the alleged entry into a restricted casino area.

Authorities have not reported in the provided materials that Vanleer has been arrested. The case remains active while the FBI and Missouri law enforcement agencies continue to seek public assistance.
