Next Stop Barcelona as SBC Awards 2022 Move to Spain
In a press release from SBC, they announced that the SBC Awards for 2022 are to be held in Barcelona in September. This marks a change in location from London, in December, where the ceremony has been held in previous years.
The actual location of the ceremony this year is to be held in what can only be described as the spectacular setting of the Palau Nacional. SBC has indicated that the reason for the change of venue to Barcelona this year is that they wish to incorporate it with the SBC Summit to be held at the same time.
The SBC Summit conference and exhibition is where leaders in sports betting and iGaming will meet to discuss the industry. It is hoped to make the SBC Awards the feature event at this year’s Summit.
In its ninth year, the awards ceremony has grown, and the number of awards to be given out has now risen to 45. Some of the categories SBC will acknowledge within the industry include operator, with 15 awards, and supplier, with 21 awards.
Some of the more coveted awards at the ceremony will be Socially Responsible Operator of the Year, Best Social Responsibility Supplier, along with Sportsbook of the Year, for each region.
After consulting with our partners and audience, we decided to move the SBC Awards ceremony to sit alongside SBC Summit Barcelona to allow people to take in two must-attend events in a single trip. The decision has also enabled us to select a uniquely memorable venue in the Palau Nacional, which will help us to deliver a great evening for our 1,000 guests. With the ceremony coinciding with what will be our largest ever Summit with 6,000 delegates, Barcelona will become the center of the betting and iGaming industry for a week.
