No More Match Day Betting for Bolton Wanders Fans

The UK League One football club, Bolton Wanderers have announced that it will no longer be possible to place bets at their stadium on matchdays.

They have also stated that they will not be entering into any more sponsorship arrangements with any organization connected to gambling in any way, but they would be honoring any existing arrangements which are in place.

The club have said that the reason they have taken this stance is because of the alarming levels of gambling addiction and they will be looking at getting involved with problem gambling charities which help the local community.

Latest research shows that there are between 340,000 and 1.4m adult gambling addicts in the UK and over 60,000 young people aged between 11 and 16 are addicted. We as an industry must do more and, through our work with Bolton Wanderers in the Community, Bolton Wanderers Football Club will support outreach programs for those who experience gambling problems.

The chief executive of Bolton Wanderers, Neil Hart added, "We will not take part in any activity to promote gambling outside the existing EFL [English Football League] contractual requirements. This means we will not provide match day betting kiosks or enter into any new agreements with gambling companies."
