December Revenue Peaks at $9.7m

In December, Oregon’s gross gaming revenue reached $9.7m, establishing a new record for the state. The figure surpassed the previous record of $8.5m set in October 2023 by 14.1%. It also marked a 70.2% increase from $5.7m in December 2022.

American football contributed the most revenue at $3.2m. As expected, basketball is in second place with $2.9m, and football generated $605,891 in revenue. Additionally, parlay bets yielded $5.7m in revenue, while single wagers contributed $4.0m.

Since DraftKings is the only operator allowed to offer sports betting in the state, all bets are placed through the app. Although state taxes were not detailed in the report, it is estimated to be approximately $4.9m based on the 51% tax rate agreement between the operator and the state.

Transition from Scoreboard to DraftKings

Prior to DraftKings’ entry into the market, the scoreboard platform run by the Oregon Lottery has been the primary avenue for sports betting in the state since it legalized the activity in October 2019.

However, in 2021, the Oregon Lottery jointly approved the migration from SBtech-powered Scoreboard to DraftKings’ framework. In January 2022, DraftKings fully rolled out its mobile betting services in the state.
