Pennsylvania Gaming Revenue Rises 4% to $555M As Sports Betting Jumps 50%
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Pennsylvania’s gambling revenue rose 4.07% year over year to $555.04 million in September 2026, according to state regulators. Growth in online casino games and sports betting helped offset a sharp decline in revenue from land-based table games.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported that total revenue increased from $533.33 million in September 2025. The state’s regulated gambling industry also generated $242.63 million in tax revenue during the month, before adjustments by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.
Online Casino Revenue Rises 6.82% to $249.3 Million
According to the PGCB’s September revenue report, online casino gaming generated $249.31 million, an increase of 6.82% from $233.38 million a year earlier. Online slots accounted for most of that total, producing $197.37 million, up 8.99% year over year.
Internet table games contributed $49.66 million, a slight decrease of 0.63%, while online poker revenue declined 1.76% to $2.27 million. The figures indicate that online slots remained the primary source of growth within Pennsylvania’s iGaming market.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course retained its position as the largest iGaming certificate holder by revenue, generating $99.05 million, up 12.93%. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with $69.79 million, an increase of 5.14%, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia reported $38.45 million, up 8.55%.
The increase followed August’s decline in statewide gaming revenue, when Pennsylvania reported $569.74 million, down 2.16% year over year. September’s total remained below August’s level, although the annual comparison returned to positive territory.
Sports Betting Revenue Jumps 50% Despite Lower Handle
Sports wagering recorded the largest percentage increase among Pennsylvania’s major gambling categories. Taxable sportsbook revenue reached $44.74 million in September, up 50.45% from $29.74 million in the corresponding month of 2025.
However, total sports betting handle fell 6.09% to $798.74 million, compared with $850.55 million a year earlier. The contrasting figures show that operators generated substantially more revenue despite accepting a lower total value of wagers.
Online sportsbooks accounted for $40.34 million of September’s betting revenue, while retail sportsbooks generated $4.40 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort led the category with $15.77 million, followed by Hollywood Casino at the Meadows with $12.62 million.
Hollywood Casino at the Meadows recorded a 207.90% annual increase in sports wagering revenue, while Hollywood Casino York generated $3.18 million, up 824.22%. Sports betting contributed approximately $16.11 million in tax revenue during September.
Retail Table Games Fall 18% as Casino Results Diverge
Pennsylvania’s land-based casino performance was mixed. Retail slot machine revenue increased 2.44% to $196.16 million, compared with $191.49 million in September 2025. The number of operating slot machines also increased, reaching 24,523 compared with 24,331 a year earlier.
Retail table games posted a considerably weaker result, with revenue declining 18.07% to $60.16 million. Wind Creek Bethlehem recorded $14.15 million in table game revenue, down 23.89%, while Parx Casino generated $11.94 million, a decrease of 29.14%.
Across all regulated gaming categories, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the state with $113.59 million in combined revenue, an increase of 11.84%. Valley Forge Casino Resort ranked second at $96.63 million, followed by Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $55.65 million.
Other gambling categories recorded declines. Revenue from video gaming terminals at qualified truck stops fell 4.90% to $3.18 million, while fantasy contest revenue dropped 23.75% to $1.49 million.
September’s figures follow Pennsylvania’s record fiscal 2025-26 results, which highlighted the growing contribution of online casino gaming to the state’s gambling industry. The latest monthly figures show continued iGaming growth and stronger sportsbook revenue alongside persistent weakness in retail table games.
