Following a dispute with the Romania Gambling Supervisory Committee, Goldprest Impex SRL, a Romanian slot operator, has had its gaming license revoked.

The committee revealed it had only received RON97,753 of the actual RON366,573 license fee due, meaning the operator was short by RON268,820 for the specified period.

The financial arm of the government, the Romania National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) stated it had received the license fee in two installments in November 2022. ANAF added that some compensations were made in November 2022, and the amount was reduced to RON97,753.

Following a complex series of declarations in the accounts of Goldprest the company issued several statements in Q1 of 2023, reducing the license fee relating to the first quarter of 2021.

The Romanian regulator cited they believed these statements in the accounts of Goldprest were not legal, and the operator owed a total of RON437,832. The Romania Gambling Supervisory Committee stated it had no choice but to cancel the operating license of Goldprest and ordered the operator to pay the outstanding difference.

The Romanian regulator has indicated that it fully expects Goldprest to challenge the decision to revoke its license, in the meantime the operator will remain with its license rescinded.
