Spanish gambling operator Codere Group has appointed Sonia Carabante as its new Corporate Director of Commercial Strategy and Business Projects.

Before joining the gambling firm, Carabante served as the Executive Director of Corporate Services at Spanish government-owned CTTI.

Carabante also spent nearly 15 years working at Spanish casino operator Cirsa for 15 years, where she gained salient experience from handling roles like Director of Customer Intelligence, Efficiency, and Productivity.

In the earlier stages of her career, Carabante also worked at General Electric and La Sirena.

In her new role, Carabante will spearhead efficiency, transformation, and implementation projects focused on local strategies and initiatives. She will also be actively engaged in Codere's marketing, CRM, and product functions, with a view to contributing to the overall expansion plans of the group.

With this appointment, Codere reaffirms its commitment to excellence in its business strategy and its determination to drive growth and efficiency in all areas of the organization. Sonia's leadership and experience will be fundamental pillars for the company's continued success.

Codere’s Leadership Restructuring

The appointment follows the recent addition of other new executives to Codere's senior team.

Last week, the company appointed Luis Villalba as its new Chief Financial Officer, replacing Óscar Fernández de Llano, who recently exited the firm due to personal reasons.

At the beginning of the month, Codere named Gonzaga Higuero as its new CEO to oversee the company's growth plans across its major operating markets.

In June, Former 888 executive Michal Elimelech was appointed as a new member of Codere's Board of Directors.

Codere Group has embarked on a management restructuring to enhance efficiency and position itself for sustainable growth in the evolving market landscape of the new post-pandemic period. In Q1 2023, the company posted a lower net loss and a 54.9% increase in gaming revenue.

The company also recorded year-on-year growth across all its operating markets in the first quarter.
