Tipico Officially Becomes Columbus Crew Sports Betting Partner
Ohio-based soccer club Colombia Crew has reportedly partnered with sportsbook Tipico in a long-term deal.
Under the terms of the new partnership, Tipico, who was in the news last November for signing a partnership deal with Colorado Rapids, will also be the official sports betting partner of Columbus Crew and get access to the team's "marquee Crew assets."
It will also have naming rights to the Lower.com Field beer garden behind the Nordecke supporters' section on the north end of the stadium and the VIP seating area previously named Rail Club on the east side.
In addition, the agreement covers a variety of digital content and programming for fans and bettors. The sports betting company also promises a wide range of promotions and giveaways for fans and registered users.
As they make their foray into Ohio, our long-term agreement with Tipico represents an exciting development for Crew supporters and sports fans in Central Ohio and throughout the state.
According to the club's press release, Tipico aims to launch its mobile sports betting app once sports betting is legalized and regulated in the state.
Last month Gov. Mike DeWine signed House Bill 29 into law, making Ohio the 33rd state to legalize sports gambling.
However, the Ohio Casino Control Commission is still in the process of drafting necessary regulations and guidelines. It estimates it won't start accepting applications for businesses that want to offer sports betting until this summer or fall.
