The WPT Cambodia festival is set to be the longest WPT event ever held in Asia, spanning more than 60 tournaments. With a combined total of over $3 million in guaranteed prize money across all events, it is poised to become one of the most lucrative and well-attended poker festivals in the region.
The expanded festival will feature a variety of poker tournaments, including both the main WPT Cambodia Championship and WPT Prime Cambodia. This makes it one of the largest and most significant poker events in Southeast Asia.
The WPT Cambodia Championship will be the centerpiece of the festival, with a buy-in of $3,500 and a guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 million. This prize pool highlights the growing popularity of poker in the region and reflects the importance of the event in the global poker calendar.
Players from all over the world are expected to attend, drawn by both the sizable prize money and the prestige of competing in a WPT Championship event. The NagaWorld venue has long been a favorite destination for poker players in Southeast Asia.
In addition to the main event, WPT Prime Cambodia will also be a major highlight of the festival. The WPT Prime series, known for its accessibility and more affordable buy-ins, will feature a $1,100 buy-in event with a guaranteed prize pool of $750,000. This provides an opportunity for a wider range of players, including recreational players and rising professionals, to compete for significant prizes.
Cambodia Becomes Asian Poker Central
The WPT returned to Cambodia in January 2024 as it continued its expansion in the Asian poker market. The event was also held at NagaWorld, from January 15 to 28. This visit followed the highly successful WPT Cambodia festivals of previous years, which have drawn significant attention from the international poker community.
In addition to the main event, the January 2024 festival hosted numerous side events, catering to various poker formats and skill levels. These events are designed to appeal to a wide range of players, including those seeking lower buy-ins, high rollers, and specialists in different poker variants, like Pot-Limit Omaha.
WPT continues to tap into the growing demand for live poker tournaments in the region. The 2023 edition of WPT Prime Cambodia saw record-breaking attendance, and WPT is looking to build on that momentum with its upcoming festival.
