Churchill Downs Names Katherine Armstrong as VP of Human Resources

Churchill Downs has appointed Katherine Armstrong as Senior Vice President of Human Resources, promoted after a year of serving as the VP for Culture with the company.

Armstrong has been responsible for advancing a strategy and culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the company. In her new role, she will continue to oversee this company policy.

Before joining Churchill Downs, Armstrong ran a consulting firm specializing in HR. There have also been senior roles in other companies as part of Armstrong's 20-year history in HR departments.

Churchill Downs is a leading racing, online sports and gaming company. The company operates three gaming sites in Kentucky, with over 3,000 historical racing machines. Churchill Downs also has land-based casino sites in eight other US states, with 11,000 slots and 200 casino table games. The company has an online presence of nine sportsbooks in markets throughout North America.

Armstrong is taking over from Chuck Kenyon, who is retiring from the position after 18 years. There will be a brief transition period before Kenyon leaves at the start of August.
