D’Arcy Myers Becomes GamCare Interim CEO
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:United Kingdom gambling charity GamCare has announced the appointment of D'Arcy Myers as its new interim CEO.
Having served as a charity consultant for several years, Myers has the extensive expertise and knowledge to drive impactful strategic development and facilitate change processes within nonprofit organizations.
In his 12-year tenure as a charity CEO, Myers successfully guided several charitable organizations through transformative phases, including Allergy UK, The Percy Hedley Foundation, the TV and Film Charity, and The Solicitors Charity.
He was also a founding member of the Small Charities Coalition and held leadership positions as the Chair of The Association of Charitable Organisations and The Smallwood Trust.
I am excited to be joining GamCare and supporting our staff and partners in the hugely important work they do. I look forward to meeting as many staff, service users, and partners as possible in the coming weeks.
Hemmings Sets a High Bar
Myers will be replacing Anna Hemmings, who concluded her five-year role as GamCare's CEO in June. During her tenure, Hemmings steered the charity's strategy and orientation through a period of significant change in the UK gambling landscape.

She oversaw the expansion of the treatment support network and resources and successfully led the organization through challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the two-year Gambling Act review.
However, consultation for the UK white paper is ongoing, and one of Myers' key tasks will be navigating the organization through the rigorous process.
He will also collaborate with the UK government as GamCare, and other treatment support organizations await the completion of plans for the operational framework and distribution of funds through a statutory levy. The funds will go into initiatives related to research, education, and treatment (RET) for problem gambling.
I am delighted to welcome D'Arcy to GamCare. His wide-ranging experience will be invaluable for the organisation at a time of great change for this sector.
