The winner, identified as Jian W., hit the jackpot on Wednesday, May 27. According to the casino, the guest secured the payout after landing a rare baccarat jackpot tied to an uncommon suited winning-hand combination.
Jian, an Emerald-level Club Serrano member, was playing with a $5 main wager and a $5 progressive side bet when the winning hand triggered the seven-figure prize.
Rare Baccarat Hand Triggers Jackpot
Progressive side bets are optional wagers that can unlock larger jackpot payouts when specific card combinations appear. In this case, the qualifying baccarat hand produced a payout of more than $1 million.
After the win, Jian celebrated on the casino floor with family and friends.

Palms is located west of the Las Vegas Strip and operates as part of the city’s broader resort casino market, where table game and slot jackpots remain a regular draw for both locals and visitors.
