Pennsylvania Gaming Revenue Rises 6.5% to Nearly $595M in April

The increase gave state regulators another strong monthly total as online casino games and sports betting taxable revenue continued to support the market.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board said total revenue from regulated gambling and fantasy contests reached $594.98 million in April 2026. That was up 6.49% from April 2025, while tax revenue for the month reached $255.26 million before Department of Revenue adjustments.

The latest result follows another strong monthly report, when Pennsylvania gaming revenue climbed 14.6% in February.

The total covers slot machines, table games, online casino games, sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals. The April figures also include revenue from Happy Valley Casino, which began generating slot and table games revenue on April 24.

Online Casino Revenue Leads Growth

Online casino-style gaming remained one of the strongest areas of the Pennsylvania market. iGaming revenue reached $245.78 million in April, up 7.94% from $227.71 million in the same month last year.

Tax revenue from iGaming reached $113.47 million for the month, making online casino one of the state’s most important gambling revenue channels.

Retail slot revenue also increased. Pennsylvania casinos generated $206.67 million from slot machines in April, up 1.76% from $203.09 million a year earlier. The number of slot machines in operation rose to 24,856, compared with 24,363 in April 2025.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the operator chart with $109.03 million in total April revenue, up 11.58% from $97.72 million in April 2025.

Sports Betting Revenue Rises Despite Lower Handle

Sports wagering handle fell year over year, but taxable revenue climbed sharply. Pennsylvania sportsbooks accepted $641.57 million in wagers during April, down 9.84% from $711.57 million in April 2025.

Taxable sports betting revenue reached $58.95 million, a 38.60% increase from $42.53 million a year earlier. Sports wagering tax revenue for April stood at $21.22 million.

Retail table games moved in the opposite direction. Table games revenue fell 2.36% to $78.70 million, compared with $80.60 million in April 2025. The segment generated $13.35 million in tax revenue.

VGT Revenue Increases While Fantasy Contests Decline

Video gaming terminals produced $3.69 million in adjusted revenue during April, up 4.99% from $3.52 million a year earlier. By the end of the month, VGT operators had placed the maximum permitted five machines at each of 76 qualified truck stop locations, compared with 72 locations at the same point last year.

Fantasy contests revenue declined to $1.18 million, down 6.03% from $1.26 million in April 2025. Tax revenue from fantasy contests reached $177,179.

The PGCB regulates 18 land-based casinos, online casino gaming, retail and online sports betting, VGTs at qualified truck stops and online fantasy contests across Pennsylvania.
