Per Widerström Announced as New Chief Executive of 888 Holdings
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:Per Widerström, a seasoned industry expert has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of 888 Holdings, effective from 16 October 2023.
Widerström will assume the role after an eight-year tenure as the Chief Executive of the Central and Eastern European enterprise, Fortuna Entertainment Group, from which he stepped down in 2022.
With a rich 17-year career span in the iGaming industry, Widerström has held executive positions at prominent operators like bwin.party and Gala Coral Interactive. Currently, he also serves as a non-executive director on the boards of Catena and Casumo.
Lord Mendelsohn to Resume Non-Executive Role
Following Widerström’s appointment, Lord Mendelsohn reverts to a non-executive role. Since the departure of Itai Pazner in January, Mendelsohn has been managing the company as the executive chair.

Mendelsohn believes that Widerström’s extensive experience across both public and private firms makes him an ideal fit to spearhead 888. Mendelsohn praised his proven track record of delivering growth t multiple companies and, as such, believes that he has the skills to help the company “become a much stronger international multi-brand operator, leveraging our technology and data capabilities to drive an acceleration in growth.”
With the merger with William Hill, Widerström believes 888 now has a “world-class portfolio of betting and gaming brands, an outstanding technology platform, and an exceptional team. Together these attributes mean it is exceptionally well positioned to become a clear global industry leader.”
