Red Deer Resort & Casino Celebrates Its Grand Launch
LISTEN TO THIS ARTICLE:On 8 September 2023, the grand opening of the much-awaited Red Deer Resort & Casino is set to take place.
Designed to be Central Alberta’s premier hotel and conference center, Red Deer Resort & Casino boasts 241 guestrooms, 15 modern meeting rooms, and a 53,000-square-foot conference space. However, the majority of locals will be most looking forward to the casino.
George Yammine, CEO of the O’Chiese Business and Investment Centre, owners of Red Deer Resort & Casino, called the completion of the casino a "major milestone" for the company and the city of Red Deer. He added, "The casino will be a key driver of tourism and economic growth in the region, becoming a hub for entertainment for the region and beyond."

Economic Growth and Diverse Gaming Experiences
With the opening of the casino and the ongoing enhancements to the hotel, job opportunities in the region are expected to rise by up to 20%. Roles such as dealers, servers, and housekeeping staff are especially in demand. A US state that partly solved this problem is Illinois by passing a bill that lets convicts work in casinos.
Located in Downtown Red Deer, the casino promises a broad spectrum of gaming experiences. Visitors can enjoy slot machines, table games, and even a specialized poker room. For those looking for refreshments, the casino also offers dining options and a bar.
First Nation Inspired Design
The casino’s design is also set to be a highlight. Drawing inspiration from the captivating sunrises over Alberta’s prairies and the serene sunsets over the Rocky Mountains, the design is a tribute to the O’Chiese First Nation’s cultural heritage.
