DRA Bans Darts Player for Eight Years Over Match-Fixing

In further details of the ruling, the DRA stated it had found Jiwa had tried to fix the outcome of four matches in which he was playing and had also breached betting regulations by placing a wager on the outcome of the match.

The matches related to historic games that took place and featured some well-known players in the game of darts. The DRA were quick to point out that there was no suspicion that any of his opponents were involved in the match fixing and that Jiwa acted alone.

UKGC Outlines Details of Enforcement

Following the disciplinary hearing earlier this year Jiwa was banned from playing in any tournament regulated by the DRA for 8 years until 6 November 2031. Additionally he was ordered to pay costs in the amount of £17,741.46.

The hearing indicated Jiwa did not obstruct the investigation into his match-fixing and he also has the right to appeal the decision.

The DRA states the integrity of darts must be upheld so that customers can have trust in the matches they watch and have a wager on. This led to the DRA suspending a young darts player from the professional tour following suspicious betting patterns,
