New Jersey to Help Establish UAE Gaming Regulations

The move was solidified during a visit to Abu Dhabi by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, where he signed a memorandum of agreement with the UAE's General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).

The Attorney General's Office of New Jersey noted that the agreement establishes a formal communications channel with the UAE. MaryJo Flaherty, the interim director of the NJDGE, said that New Jersey is eager to support the UAE as it develops its own gambling oversight structures. She highlighted that the regulator, as one of the longest-operating gaming authorities in the world, is prepared to collaborate with the GCGRA on a range of initiatives. These include technological innovation, enhancements in gaming operations, and the implementation of advanced cybersecurity protocols.
According to a statement released about the agreement, the partnership aims to advance dialogue and cooperative efforts in areas such as responsible gaming technology, research initiatives, consumer protections, and cybersecurity. These focal points reflect both jurisdictions' shared priorities in creating secure and sustainable gaming environments.
The partnership coincides with a period of continued growth in New Jersey's online gambling sector. The NJDGE recently reported that internet gambling revenue reached $243.9 million in March, up from $197.2 million during the same month in the previous year. The state's digital gambling operations continue to thrive, setting new revenue benchmarks and reinforcing its position as a global leader in regulated gaming.
