Las Vegas Sees Sharp Drop in Canadian Visitors in 2025
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Travel from Canada to Las Vegas fell sharply in 2025, contributing to a broader decline in visitor numbers across the Strip.
Data released by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority showed Canadian visitation dropped 17.4% year over year, making it the most significant fall among major international markets.
Las Vegas welcomed approximately 1.19 million Canadian visitors in 2025, down from 1.44 million the previous year. The decline has already prompted some operators to introduce targeted measures aimed at attracting Canadian tourists. Despite the drop, Canada remained the largest source of international visitors to the city.
The decline has been cited by operators and analysts as a key factor behind weaker overall tourism performance. Canadian travelers represent a substantial share of international casino customers, with some operators estimating they account for close to a third of foreign guests.
Economic factors have been pointed to as a primary driver, with a weaker Canadian dollar increasing the cost of travel to the United States.

International Travel Trends Mixed
Overall international visitation reached 4.72 million in 2025, a 4.8% decrease compared to 2024. While the drop was less severe than the broader decline in total Las Vegas visitation, it still reflects ongoing pressure on key overseas markets.
Mexico provided a contrasting trend, with visitation rising 1% to around 1.18 million. Mexican travelers matched Canadians in share, with both groups accounting for roughly a quarter of all international visitors.
Across other regions, performance was uneven. European markets such as the United Kingdom, Germany and France recorded declines, while countries including Japan, South Korea and Australia posted modest gains.
Tourism Outlook Linked to Events and Recovery
Las Vegas saw an overall visitation decline of nearly 8% in 2025, with softness concentrated in leisure travel. However, recent months have shown signs of stabilization, supported by stronger group and convention business.
Industry observers expect major events to play a role in driving demand through 2026. While the city is not hosting matches during the upcoming World Cup, it is still expected to attract international visitors traveling between host cities.
For casino operators, the trajectory of Canadian travel and broader international demand will remain a key indicator of how quickly the Las Vegas market returns to sustained growth.
